Netflix is a streaming website which was founded in 1997 started as a video distribution company by selling and renting DVD's by mail. In 2007 Netflix began streaming media and video on demand produced by other companies like HBO, Disney etc. In 2013 Netflix stated producing their own content under 'Netflix Originals' starting with The House of Cards.

Dataset The dataset used is downloaded from Kaggle and thanks to Luis for uploading :). It contains all Netflix original films released as of June 1st, 2021. Note that only films are included in the dataset.

The dataset has 6 columns

  1. Title
  2. Genre
  3. Premiere
  4. Runtime (in minutes)
  5. IMDB Score
  6. Language

There are no null values or missing values in the dataset. Runtime is the only integer column, the rest are of object type. Note: We need to format date column to use it for further processing.

Top 10 Genres in which the originals films are being produced in.

Documentary, Drama, Comedy, Romantic comedy are the top 4 genres of film in the originals film catalogue.

1 in every 4 films made under Netflix Originals is a Documentary Film

Top Languages the content is being produced.

English, Hindi, Spanish, French are the top 4 languages in which the content is being produced.

Although documentaries are the most common there's no documentary film in the Hindi language which is the second most language in which netflix is producing content.

The growth of originals film content is growing steadily. In 2021 the number is less it can be because the dataset contains only films upto June 1st, 2021 also because of the pandemic some shootings have been halted which may made the premieres delayed.
